CPH:DOX update

Ay ay ay… everything (except my legs) hurts! I’m at Kristin’s place drinking delicious instant cocoa (for my hurting throat)…

I promised you all a proper update about the CPH:DOX week, so here it comes:

I’m glad I agreed to take the job, although it “only” paid two meals a day (in very nice restaurants) and a bunch of free tickets.
I was hostess/secretary for the CPH:DOX Amnesty Award Jury, which consisted of Canadian festival programmer Sean Farnel (HotDocs), Czech festival programmer Helena Zachikova (One World – Human Rights Festival), Swedish producer Hanna Heilborn (Story) and Danish producer Mette Heide (Team Productions). They were a very nice group and easy to please. Helena told me afterwards she felt like a little family, Sean borrowed my old mobile phone to bring with him to idfa, I met Hanna’s 5 year old son and her mother, and I finally got to talk to my friend Mette Heide’s name sister! 😉

At the beginning of the festival I mostly picked up film directors, jury members and other invited guests at the airport. I also fed my own jury family, ran for dvd copies of the films that didn’t screen well, printet fligth tickets, made reservations for other film screenings than our own, took them out with the other guests in the evening to eat and meet, bought a danish prepaid SIM-card, moderated a Q&A with Andreas Møl Dalsgaard about Afghan Muscles and also managed to end up moderating the Q&A for the winning Film Black Sun… with a blind man answering half the questions and the Utzon family sitting in the front row and everything! Haha
I talked to Jørn Utzon, took Gary Tarn out for dinner on Sunday (which was really of interesting) and met Asger Leth (I must say I liked Ghosts of Cité Soleil more than I like him)! 😉

After a week of developing my networking skills (oh yes) and learning how to play Kraftwerk’s “The Model” on recorder, I probably also found a new friend or two! Which is a very nice side effect! 😉

My bosses keep telling me how great I was and how much my jury loved me – YES! ;D
I loved them too – hire me again next year please!

Time for a proper update…

Pew, where to begin?

I’ve been moving stuff all day, from my old place to my new place, which isn’t my place until Friday… so right now I’m pretty much homeless… well not really, I’m crashing at Kristin‘s tonight and going to a concert with friends tomorrow, so it’s taken care of…

Sailor boy and I got up early to pick up the rented car. We managed to load the car, drive it to Emdrup and get back to Valby in time for his work to begin – all though I have A LOT of STUFF!!!! Kamma and her friend, invited me for lunch and helped me unload the car some hours later! Which was great – don’t know how we would have managed without Sunes help. I’m going to buy them a lot of beers tomorrow – in gratitude! I realized, while my legs have no problems running up and down stairs all day, my arms can’t lift a thing! Maybe I should work on that… hmmm

When I got back to my old place to pick up my overnight bags, I took the back stairs down, slipped and fell hard on my lower back and arm! Ouch! Some idiot had spilled something on the stairs and didn’t bother to wipe it up – it did not help that the lights had gone out on that exact floor!
Now my body hurts even more than it would have anyway.. yay!

One of my best and oldest friends back home just had a baby girl! She is healthy (her parents happy) and called Birka Johanna, which is perfect!
Her dad left a message on my voicemail yesterday, sounding a bit tired! Hehe 😉
5 minutes after the call my other friend from back home called – she was moved to tears and couldn’t stop crying! It was so sweet and reminded me of when Sündja told me she was pregnant in the first place! I was so happy for her I just started crying and laughing at the same time! I think she was very thankful for my positive reaction – most other people she told at the time, where more worried than happy.

Can’t wait to go back home and meet my youngest “niece”! 😀

I miss my mum’s bath tub right now..

I’m going to tell more about CPH:DOX next time… to… exhausted… really…

I am moving… my new home will be at the end of the world… no shops, no people in the streets…

More updates will follow…

Meanwhile I am very entertained by this thought:
Most of us, I guess, would dearly love to have a collection of the photographs other people take where we are in the background. That would be my ultimate dream photo album: hundreds of snaps of Peter and Jane at the top of the Empire State Building (and some beardy, speccy bloke in the background), Alan in front of the Brandenburg Gate (and some beardy, speccy bloke in the background), Julie and the kids on the beach (and some pale, beardy, speccy bloke in the background)…

Hirhirhir… Do not miss this!

😉 Haha…

The Jury

I got the job as secretary of the jury for the CPH:DOX Amnesty Award! Wuuuhuuuu! 😀

First of November… First Snow… It’s Winter!

Neon Dancing

I went out to see my old flat mate Jeppe last night(who is being harassed by crazy fans in this picture!)
and his boys from Surfact!
We ended up at Cozy Bar, a crazy gay bar with the coolest and fastest bartender I’ve ever seen!
